The History of Les Trois Mousquetaires Microbrewery
Les Trois Mousquetaires Microbrewery was founded in June of 2004, following the purchase of Express-Broue, a small brewery situated in St-Eustache.
The three new owners had been coworkers at Imperial Tobacco, and shared the same ambition of becoming entrepreneurs following the closing of the factory. Because they all lived on the south shore of Montreal, they decided to move their operation to Brossard. The new microbrewery proposed at first two beers: a pale one (D’Artagnan), and a red one (Aramis). They both had the particularity of being brewed with lager yeast, which is quite uncommon of breweries in Quebec.
In 2006, following a growing interest from the clients for more beer tastings, the Les Trois Mousquetaires microbrewery started offering high quality beers with complex flavors, exploring mostly style from Germany, something uncommon on the market at that time.
In 2008, Les Trois Mousquetaires that now offered around 15 different beers, decided to upgrade their brand to something much more simple, clean, and prestigious. The beers were then offered in three style: Regular, Signature, and Grande Cuvee. They are renowned according to their color and brewing style.
At the same time, the company started developing more and more on their philosophy of using local, Quebec grown ingredients. Working very closely with the Frontenac and Maltbroue malteries, situated respectively in Thetford Mines and Temiscouata-sur-le-Lac, Les Trois Mousquetaires began the process of converting little by little their recipes to include Quebec malt.
In the month of May 2011, the company moved a few doors down to Matte Boulevard in Brossard. Their new location was three times bigger to be able to meet the demands of their ever increasing clientele. Following this move, Les Trois Mousquetaires Microbrewery beer is available in over 500 locations around Quebec, and has begun exporting it’s beers to Ontario, the west of Canada, the United States, and Australia.
In the summer of 2012, Les Trois Mousquetaires proceeded to change their brand again to include ” Brewed with Quebec malts” and innovate by offering the most detailed back sticker on the market.
In 2014, the microbrewery celebrates its 10 years of success, and continues its expansion in Quebec, Canada, the United States, Europe, and Brazil.
